You’re never too old to date: Just ask my mom

Here’s proof positive that it’s never too late for love.
 
That’s my mom in the photo below on her 80th birthday earlier this summer with David, 90, a lovely Australian man she met in her seniors’ building. They’ve been together four years, are engaged and have no plans to marry (they conveniently live in the same building and see each other most days).

My mom was very happily married for 45 years until my stepfather died six years ago. She never expected to meet anyone else. But life can surprise you — in wonderful ways.
 
David and my mom met IRL (“in real life”), not on a dating app (my mom doesn’t even own a cell phone).
 
And while IRL is always the best way to meet, as women get older the chances of that happening become more and more remote (David was the only single man in my mom’s building).
 
As her daughter it brings me great joy to see that she has a kind and caring man in her life.
 
As you can see from the smiles on their faces, they’re both pretty happy too!
