Is 2024 the year you finally get online?

How has the holiday season been for you? Did you feel overwhelmed? Maybe a bit lonely?

It’s no secret that the holidays can be hard. After all, it’s the time of year when women find themselves going above and beyond to make it a special time for others. They embrace the spirit of giving, pouring their time and energy into creating memorable experiences for their loved ones.

Women over 50 may have grown children who are busy with their own lives, living in different cities or even countries. This physical distance can make it challenging to spend quality time together during the Christmas season. Women in this age group may be divorced, separated or widowed, and living on your own can intensify feelings of loneliness during this season.

While online dating offers a potential solution to alleviate this loneliness, we know it also scares a lot of older women: “What if I get scammed?” “What if I get stood up?” “There aren’t any good men out there.” “What if I never meet someone?”

We’ve heard it all.

These are the “barriers to entry” to online dating that prevent women from signing up for dating apps in the hopes of meeting a great companion, friend, or potential mate online. While these fears are legitimate, they are often unfounded. Once you learn certain strategies, you won’t get scammed. Yes, you may get stood up (that’s what happened to Anne on her very first online date), but if you learn to filter your dates carefully the chances of this happening are remote. We know there are plenty of great people out there because many of our workshop participants have gone on to meet them. As far as the fear of never meeting someone, your chances of making a connection are far greater if you take the risk and go online than if you do nothing at all.
